@sunu97 I understand your way of wanting to study English, but learning words and dictionaries won’t help you much. In a lot of countries they tell you that this is a good way to learn, but personally I don’t think so. I have a few tips that I use when I learn a new language:
1. Don’t stress yourself too much. Movies and books can be quite overwhelming, so I would not recommend using movies and books as direct source for studying English.
2. Just begin at the basics. If things get too much for you, take a step back and look at all the things you’ve learned before. Start to learn new things when you are sure everything is in your head. Now, since your goal is passing a test, you must find out what skills are required. I think it will be focussed on understanding texts. But here’s the thing: you don’t need to understand every single word in the text in order to understand the meaning of the text and to give the answer. Understanding the basic foundation of the English language will really help you!
3. Learn words but first just focus on the words you use in your daily life. Think in your native language and see what words you use to explain things to yourself. For example: if you think: “what does this word mean?” Look up what it means in English. There are plently of online dictionaries like Oxford online dictionary and much more! If you are more advanced, try to make those things more complicated.
4. Read. I know I said don’t use books as a resource, but you can use books in order to practise. Don’t read complicated literature but just start with a cartoon or a book for teenagers. When those books get too easy you can move on to higher levels.
5. Use Cambridge methods. If you have money I really advice you to use Cambridge books because they focus on skills rather than words and grammar patterns. Because of these books I passed my Cambridge exam five years ago! It’s really useful.
6. Every language has a lot of words with the same meaning. Don’t freak out when you see two words meaning a simular thing. First just remember the meaning so that when you read a text you understand a word. In context of usage, that will come with time: you will read words in certain contexts and then you start to understand the usage. Like I said at “1” don’t stress yourself too much.
I am no teacher but I hope it can sort of help you out! If you really want something, you will succeed eventually!
