Rated 1 out of 5 by DJW97 from Flawed design As already mentioned numerous times, these shoes cause significant pain at the base of the big toe as your flex your foot. Each step presses the lacing system into the top of your foot. Should not be sold in this current design!! Avoid at all costs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JayP from Light and stable but painful to walk in. I have wanted these walking shoes for over a year since my partner bought the ladies mid boot version. I opted for the low shoe wide fit version as this brand are renowned for their shoes being quite narrow and i prefer shoe to boot. The width is fine however the quick lace system is not. When you put the shoe on and pull the lace system in when walking and bending your toes the front of the shoe presses down onto the top of your toe knuckles when flexing making walking extremely uncomfortable. I have endured this on several 5-10 mile walks hoping they will wear in but after a month of use they have not. I really wanted to love these shoes. I am a big fan of Solomon. However they are that uncomfortable after even a 5 mile walk my feet begin to hurt. I have tried loosening, tightening etc. I had read this can affect some people prior to buying but i wanted the shoes that much i took my chances. Not recommended due to this fault in design. On a plus side they are the lightest shoes I've ever owned. They are also extremely stable underfoot and have an excellent grippy sole. They also look awesome and are waterproof which was another driver for buying them. Just a shame they hurt my feet!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nuttz from disappointed I bought these a month ago and I'm so disappointed. They look great but are incredibly uncomfortable, in particular where the shoe creases around the toes. I combined them with thin running socks, so perhaps a thicker sock might solve the problem. Right now I can't look at them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DanTay from Great shoes and fantastic warranty This is my 4th or maybe 5th pair of X Ultra 4 Wide GTX. They are great, but only because the warranty is great. My last pair split after about 5-6 weeks. Salomon have replaced them under warranty every time, so I cannot complain. They are very comfortable and fully waterproof. If you have slightly wider feet then just buy the Wide Fit. They get used in all weather and on all terrain types. That said, the soles wear very quickly and the sides of the toe box split easily, but so long as they’re covered under the 2 year warranty, I’m happy.
