Nigerian Pastor Emmanuel Iren recently announced he’s venturing into filmmaking with his debut feature film, titled “What About Us?“. The news broke last week, along with the official movie poster that sent fans into a frenzy. The poster offered a tantalising glimpse of the film and fueled anticipation for its theatrical release on July 12th, 2024.
Pastor Iren kept the momentum going by dropping the official trailer for the film on his Instagram page just yesterday.
“Here’s the trailer for Narrative Entertainment’s feature film. What About Us? hits the big screen from July 12th, mark your calendars. We can’t wait for you all to experience this amazing project,” he said on Instagram.

This exciting move offered fans a much more substantial look at the movie, likely sparking theories and speculation about the plot and characters.
Social media is sure to be buzzing with excitement as fans dissect the trailer and share their predictions for the film’s success. With the pastor’s musical talent and now his foray into filmmaking, it looks like he’s poised to become a true entertainment powerhouse.
“What About Us?” tells the story of a Christian couple battling to save their troubled marriage.
The arrival of new neighbours next door throws their already strained relationship into overdrive. The wife finds herself drawn to the new husband in a way that threatens to shatter their lives.
The film boasts a stellar cast featuring Uzor Arukwe, Folu Storms, Kunle Remi, Teniola Aladese, Aeyi Awolowo, Marycolette Unamka, and Atlanta Bridget Johnson.
While Pastor Iren serves as the executive producer and the creative mind behind the story, Ife Olujuyigbe penned the screenplay. Kayode Kasum held the directorial reins. Bisola Badejo and Tochukwu Macdonald Sunday oversaw the production.
“What About Us? is a film that will touch your heart and spark important conversations,” Macdonald Sunday said about the film on Instagram.
Director Kayode Kasum took to Instagram to express his appreciation to Pastor Iren for entrusting him with the project. He called it a “privilege to bring a powerful story to life,” hinting at the film’s potential to resonate deeply with audiences.
Looking behind the scenes, “What About Us?” is a Narrative Entertainment Production, a company connected to Pastor Iren. FilmOne, a major distribution company in Nigeria, will be responsible for getting the movie into theatres nationwide.

Biennale College Cinema in Venice has announced the Kenyan-Nigerian project, “1 Woman 1 Bra“. The director-producer duo, Vincho Nchogu and Josh Olaoluwa worked on the project. It is the only African project selected for the 13th edition of the festival. This marks a significant achievement for African cinema on the global stage.
“1 Woman 1 Bra” is among 12 projects chosen for the 2024/25 Biennale College Cinema.
These projects were unveiled during the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The teams, consisting of a director and a producer, will participate in an initial 10-day workshop in Venice. This workshop will take place from October 8 to 17, 2024.
Nchogu, the Kenyan director, and Olaoluwa, the Nigerian producer, will present their first feature film project at the workshop. Afterwards, four of the 12 projects will be selected to receive up to 200,000 Euros in production funding.
Furthermore, these four films will premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival in 2025. This opportunity is another milestone for Nchogu and Olaoluwa. Consequently, they have previously participated in the Red Sea Lodge and Torino Film Lab.
The Biennale College Cinema is an advanced training lab that opens doors for filmmakers worldwide. It provides a platform for emerging voices in cinema and offers valuable resources to bring creative visions to life.
Nine of the twelve projects were selected from the Biennale College Cinema – International competition. Meanwhile, the remaining three came from the Biennale College Cinema – Italy competition.
In addition to “1 Woman 1 Bra”, other notable projects include “Agnus Dei” by Massimiliano Camaiti, a second-time feature director, and producer Giovanna Nicolai. Another selected project, “Badland”, comes from first-time feature director Mounir Derbal and producer Lorenzo Fiuzzi. “Becoming Human” by director Polen Ly and producer Daniel Mattes also made the list.
Further selections include “Last Time, Again” by Chinese director Di Zhang and Canadian producer Beryl Liu, “Orange Peel” by Italian director Anita Rivaroli and producer Marco Mingolla, and “Saving The Day” by Turkish director Serhat Karaaslan and French producer Laura Dahout.
Indian director Nidhi Saxena and producer Vimukthi Jayasundara’s “Secret Of A Mountain Serpent” was also selected, along with “Summer 1999” by Vietnamese director Hang Luong Nguyen and producer Dinh Le Minh Trinh.
Other featured projects include “The Booking” by American director Gabriella Moses and producer Sarah Wharton, “The Family” by Ukrainian director Hanna Jalali and Iranian producer Moeinoddin Jalali, and “Vanishing Bones” by French director Simon Rieth and producer Inès Daïen Dasi.

The prestigious London International Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) has officially selected the Nollywood film “To Love and Protect” for its 2024 screening lineup. The festival will showcase the film on October 23, 2024.
Ne Kunda Nlaba, an esteemed film producer, director, screenwriter, political scientist, and film professor at Kongo Bizizi Academy, founded the London PAFF. This esteemed film event is an annual celebration of Pan-African cinema. Further, it showcases films produced in Africa and its diaspora from around the globe.
The film’s lead actors, Ibrahim Suleiman and Linda Ejiofor, took to their Instagram accounts to share the exciting news with their fans.
In a collaborative post, they announced that “To Love and Protect” had been officially selected to grace the screens at the upcoming edition of the London International Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) 2024.

A pregnant woman, haunted by her past pregnancy losses, suddenly goes into labor and must rush to an unfamiliar hospital.
