Shirt is a category of clothing.. Like fabrics you wear on top of your body.. She wears a lovely green shirt... It could be any shirt... Buttoned shirt and others..

T-shirt, on the other hand... Is a name of clothing... T-shirt does not have a button... It like just a t shirt... You could Google it for more info
